Product Description Kingdom Hearts: Greatest Hits is a classic role-player for the PS2 -- now rereleased at an affordable price, for those who missed out the first time around! This is the story of Sora, a 14-year-old boy whose world is shattered. When a violent storm hits his island-paradise home, he is separated from his two best friends and goes to look for them. Meanwhile, King Mickey is missing from Disney Castle and Captain Goofy and the court wizard Donald are off to search for him. When Sora, Donald and Goofy meet, they hear about the Heartless: Strange and powerful creatures who caused the terrible storm and kidnapped King Mickey. They'll work together to help each other meet their goals - and have an incredible adventure as they go!
Amazon.co.uk Review Ever wondered what would happen if the worlds of Final Fantasy and Disney collided? It's an odd concept to be sure, but from the most schizophrenic of acorns the mighty gaming oak of Kingdom Hearts has grown. Legendary role-playing game makers Square have been given unprecedented liberties with the entire Disney universe and have created a game featuring everything from The Nightmare Before Christmas to The Little Mermaid. This is odd enough in itself when you have characters as disparate as Tarzan and Donald Duck teaming up, but becomes majorly freaky when Square thrown in a variety of their own characters such as Cloud, Squall, and Aeris from the various Final Fantasy games. But this incongruity has one side benefit in that the storyline behind the game is by necessity rather vague, which seems to have stopped Square from filling three CDs full of their usual New Age whining about Mother Earth. Instead they've spent even more time on the graphics, and the end result is a quite stunning 3-D cartoon. As for the gameplay, it may come as a surprise to learn that it doesn't actually feature, as all the Final Fantasy games do, turn-based combat. Instead it's essentially a scrolling beat-'em-up-cum-platformer with exactly the kind of complicated Square-style knobs you'd expect. The game may be a little shallow, but it's an impressive artistic achievement and to be quite frank any title that allows you to magically summon Bambi out of thin air to attack evil demons of the underworld has got to be worth some sort of recommendation. --David Jenkins

Awesome game! September 5, 2010 Gregory J. Wolff (CA, USA) This game is simply fantastic. You have the desperate struggle of a square Enid rpg with the light-hearted and endearing Disney characters all rolled into one! Must buy if you like Disney cartoons/history or if your a jrpg person!
The most fun i've had playing a game August 26, 2010 Flounder When this game first previewed, i didn't own a PS2. After hearing about it a saved up my allowance in order to buy a ps2 and kh. Maybe it was the satisfaction of getting the game after waiting, or just the age i was at when i played this, but this game was the most entertaining game for me. I've played games since that i will admit are better games, but i have never come across that I have had more fun playing or have played through more times. The weakest point is the gummi ships, but that's more of minor annoyance than an actual problem. Square Enix took the stupidest sounding premise 'disney meets final fantasy' and made it an amazing game and by doing so, i think introduced a new generation to a game that serves as a gateway to the Final Fantasy series.
My Kingdom Hearts August 19, 2010 leartist 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Kingdom Hearts is one of those games that everyone is willing to buy for the name. I didn't think that it would be all what is was cracked up to be, bu wanted desperatley to see how Disney and Final Fantasy would interact I gave it a whirl.
For one, after watching the little music video intro the Simple and Clean remix and gethering off the Destiny Islands, your goal is to lock the worlds and find your friends. You begin as a boy named Sora with friends Riku and Kairi on an island who's goal is to build a raft. All of a sudden a door to another world opens and you find yourself in Traverse Town. Traverse Town is the is basically the ONLY place where you interact with Final Fantasy characters other than the Olympus Collisuem with Cloud and Sephiroth, so don;t get your hopes high for the FF characters. All else? Disney! The gameplay is very, very choppy! The only magic you'll find useful is cure and you won't find yourself using the lock-on feature. Alot of features in this game you will not use because they are worthless. You cannot skip through the previews so if you die you go all the way back and watch the preview ALL OVER again! You will find yourself lost and not knowing what to do next; if it wern't for a walkthrough I would HAVE NOT beat this game. Fighting long pointless battle for money is the only way you can buy items for level up and health. There is also the long Gummi Ship stage to get from world to another. Gummi Ship is NOT fun or entertaining at all. The end of the game explains nothing and the only thing that keeps you wanting to go back and play it is to see of you can beat Sephiroth at the collusieum. You also have the ability to sythesize items but you won't ever take the time to do it and your party stinks because all they're good for is healing you. You also cannto access the menu in battle nor open up boxes, etc.
The pros of the game is the voiceacting and sound is good and that's maybe about it. If you're a Disney fan than go ahead, but the gameplay and camera is so horrible not even being a fan will help you in this one. Kingdom Hearts 2 is much better, you're better off just playing it ad skipping KH.:)
Love this game! July 29, 2010 Toni 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game has been my favorite game since I first bought it years ago. I re-bought it because the old disk was too scratched to play. I was surprised to find that a game that has Disney characters could be so fun. The story line is just fantastic and cute. The addition of Disney characters and worlds gives me a blast to the past every time I play; I go through each world going "OMG I remember watching this," or "Wow, this used to be my favorite movie when I younger." Don't think this game is all about the Disney though, there are original Characters and original worlds. There are also a few character borrowed from Final Fantasy. Fighting heartless, locking worlds, and searching for friends and King Mickey is what this game is about.
Fun and Easy Game July 2, 2010 Amy (ARLINGTON, TX, US) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game was in very good shape when it arrived. No scratches, case was in good shape. The game itself is easy and fun, sometimes it is difficult to understand exactly what to do, but it works itself out.
